Medical Disclaimer for Salt Pans Ultra

The Salt Pans Ultra is an extreme endurance event, and participation involves inherent health and safety risks. By registering, all participants acknowledge and agree to the following:
1. Physical and Health
Participants must be in good physical condition and free from any medical conditions that could impair their ability to participate safely in the event. It is required that participants consult with a physician and provide a letter from their doctor confirming they are fit to run no later than 4 weeks prior to the event.
2. Assumption of Risk:
The Salt Pans Ultra takes place in a challenging and remote environment, with risks including but not limited to dehydration, heatstroke, exhaustion, and injury. By participating, runners acknowledge and accept all associated risks and voluntarily assume full responsibility for their safety and well-being.
3. Responsibility for Medical Costs:
In the event of an emergency, participants may incur medical and evacuation expenses. All participants are responsible for their own medical insurance and any additional costs related to injury or illness resulting from the event.
4. Medical Assistance:
Basic medical support will be available at designated points along the course. However, due to the remote nature of the event, immediate medical assistance may not be accessible at all times. Participants agree to follow instructions from event medical personnel and understand that continued participation against medical advice is solely at their own risk.
5. Release of Liability:
By participating, runners release the Salt Pans Ultra organizers, sponsors, volunteers, and affiliated entities from any liability related to injury, illness, death, or property loss that may occur as a result of their participation in the event, except in cases of proven negligence.
6. I understand that during the registration process all runners will meet with race medical staff to confirm the medical information provided in their race entry form. In the unlikely event race medical staff withdraw me from the race, the reasons for this decision will be explained to me. In such an event, I understand that the organizers cannot be held accountable for any previously incurred or subsequent costs and there will be no refund.
